Before Charlie could finish, Pamela pulled out a gun.
“You think you’re so smart,” she said. “So in charge. But look at you now.”
Charlie stared at the .45 caliber pistol pointed directly at his chest. There was nowhere to go and no one else was around. Why hadn’t he considered that this might happen when Pamela called demanding to see the map before they left the country? His error in planning may cost him more than the treasure he thought would be at the end of that trip. Now he may lose his life.
“Oh, I’m not here to kill you. Or should I say, I’m not here just to kill you? I’m here to take over the operation of this treasure hunt, map in hand. And there’s nothing you can do about it.”
She motioned for him to lie facing the ground, arms behind his back. And for a second, he thought it was all over.
This was fun. I was surprised I went down a violent path, but once I started, it seemed like a good fit. There are literally so any directions you can go with these. Where would you take it?
